A PLACE TO LONG FOR

Ornö Skärgårdshotell is the result of a lifelong dream. Margareta Stenbock von Rosen, who grew up on Ornö, had dreamed since she was young of creating a hotel on her home island. In 2018, that dream became a reality – a personal and welcoming archipelago hotel where the setting, nature and atmosphere take centre stage.

Just an hour and a half from Stureplan, a peaceful oasis awaits in the southern Stockholm archipelago. The hotel is located right by the water’s edge in Brunnsviken, on the southwestern side of Ornö, with the waters of Mysingen just beyond. Mysingen is the bay famously immortalised in Evert Taube’s Vals på Mysingen.

From here, the outer archipelago is within easy reach. A short boat trip takes you to islands and skerries such as Huvudskär and Borgen, and it is not uncommon to spot seals, white-tailed sea eagles and a rich variety of birdlife along the way.

The hotel has been thoughtfully created with great care and attention to detail by Margareta herself, with the ambition of blending naturally into the landscape and creating a sense of harmony – for both the eye and the soul. Natural materials, calming colours and the proximity to the sea are woven throughout the entire experience.

When you step through our doors, we want it to feel like coming home to someone you know. Combined with the untouched nature, the tranquillity, the wildlife and the gentle pace of island life, Ornö Skärgårdshotell becomes a place to unwind and feel at home – and a place you’ll long to return to.
