ORNÖ
Ornö is one of the most iconic islands in the Stockholm archipelago.
Here, you’ll find a wide range of nature experiences, outdoor activities and authentic archipelago life.
Winter on Ornö has a quiet soul of its own. When frost and snow settle over the forest trails, the bays freeze into stillness and the soft light filters through the pine trees, a sense of calm takes hold – the kind that is difficult to find anywhere else. The island feels more secluded, yet somehow closer – as if time itself slows down.
Here, life follows the rhythm of nature. The days are quiet, the sea lies still or moves gently against the rocks, and walks take you through forests and along the shoreline, accompanied only by the wind and the birds. The air is crisp and fresh, and every breath feels cleansing.
Winter on Ornö invites you to slow down, be present and embrace a different pace – far from the noise of everyday life.
It is not a winter of cold and darkness, but one of stillness, beauty and closeness to nature. A time to settle in, gather strength and experience the archipelago in its most authentic form.

Spring on Ornö is the time when the island slowly awakens from its winter slumber. The light returns little by little, the days grow longer and the sun gently warms the walls of the houses and the rocky shores. That first true feeling of spring arrives almost unnoticed – when you pause for a moment and realise that winter has finally loosened its grip.
The forest trails begin to dry, wood anemones bloom and the birds return. The sea catches the sunlight once again, and it becomes easy to settle down on a sun-warmed rock with a book, take a walk along the shoreline or meet for a coffee without being in a hurry to get anywhere.
On Ornö, spring moves at its own pace – calm, natural and unhurried.
It is a season of new beginnings and simplicity, when nature sets the tone and everyday life feels a little lighter – just as it should in the archipelago.

Summer on Ornö is vibrant, but in its own unhurried way. The days begin early, with sunlight shimmering across the bays and the sound of boats slowly making their way through the archipelago. The air carries the scent of sun-warmed forest and sea, and life moves between jetties, beaches and forest trails.
Swim from the rocks and jetties, take the boat out among the islands and bays, or cycle along the winding roads through the forest. Lunches linger in the sunshine, children run barefoot and evenings are filled with quiet conversations, the scent of a barbecue and the gentle sea breeze. On Ornö, there is space – both for togetherness and simply for being.
As the sun sinks below the horizon and the water turns still, summer continues at a softer pace. An evening swim at dusk, a drink on the veranda, laughter carried away across the water. The nights are bright, peaceful and long.
Summer on Ornö is about freedom, closeness to nature and living by the sea – without hurry, but with everything that truly matters.
During the summer, our restaurant, Sågverket, is open at the hotel.

Autumn on Ornö is the season when the island exhales. Summer lingers in the earth, the sea and the air, and the warmth slowly begins to fade. The sea, warmed by the sunny months, often lies calm and mirrors the sky, while the days feel gentler than you might expect this far out in the archipelago.
The pace slows noticeably. Morning mist drifts across the bays, the forest is scented with damp moss and pine, and the leaves change colour along the trails. Walks become longer, coffee tastes better and breakfasts are given time to linger. For the brave, there is still the chance for a swim – colder and clearer, but refreshing in an entirely different way.
This is when Ornö reveals its most peaceful side. As the stillness settles in, conversations grow deeper and silence feels comforting rather than empty. Autumn on Ornö is a time for rest, presence and truly feeling at home in the archipelago.
